If you are going to distribute a Relativity catalog to end-users, you will need to comply with a number of conditions. (Instructions
for performing each of these tasks can be found in the appropriate Relativity Client/Server Installation Guide.)
- For client/server installations, the data server must be installed at the end-user site, on the same machine as the user
data. The data client software must be installed on the individual machines with the ODBC applications.
- For single-tier installations, the data manager must be installed on the same machine as the end-user data and the ODBC applications.
If the user-data resides on a file server, it is possible to access it with data manager installed on multiple machines, but
the Relativity DBMS must be installed on every Windows system that is to access the catalog. It is highly desirable for the
catalog to reside on the file server with the user-data.
- The catalog must be delivered on appropriate media for the end-user.
- You may also choose to install the
DBA on selected Windows machines, which will allow end-users to maintain security of the catalog.
- For client/server installations, a server data source must be created that associates the data source name with the catalog.
- For each Windows system that is to access the catalog, an ODBC data source must be created. For client/server installations,
a client data source must be created that associates the data source name with the server data source. For single-tier installations,
a single-tier data source must be created that associates the data source name with the catalog.
