A particular layout of a record area when multiple layouts exist because of redefinition or varying interpretation of data items in the record area. Normally, record types are distinguished by a record type indicator data item that is either outside any redefinition or exists in every redefinition. Relativity uses an 88-level condition-name defined on the record type indicator to distinguish record types. If the program did not define the appropriate 88-level condition-name(s), the Relativity Designer may be used to add the necessary condition-name(s). See also record type filter.
