You can export and/or import workspace data which can be used to duplicate an existing workspace. The workspace data is exported as a .xml file. The export and import processes can be performed as a single operation or as two separate operations. These operations are database independent.
The export can be performed on workspaces created in earlier product versions, which include 6.0, 7.0 and later.
The functionality is accessible from the Micro Focus COBOL Analyzer Administration tool. Click . This opens the Export / Import from workspace dialog box. You can then select the required operations for the export and import of data:
On import; creates empty projects in the new workspace.
On import; creates new option files and assign the options to the workspace and the new projects in the new workspace.
On import; registers sources in the new workspace.
On import; assigns sources to their projects in the new workspace.
On import; creates code search queries in the new workspace.
On import; creates code search reports in the new workspace.
On import; creates tags, their references, and assigns them to sources in the new workspace.
On import; imports glossary data in the new workspace.
On import; imports diagram scopes and relations in the new workspace.
On import; imports and configures BRP configuration data in the new workspace.
You must select a workspace (.rwp file) to export data from. It is optional to select a workspace to import data to. If you need to export and import as a single operation then check Import in workspace. It is mandatory to specify an XML file that will store the exported data. A log file is created in the same location as the exported XML file. The log file contains process information for the steps that passed or failed during the processing.
This is intended for importing workspace data only. In the Choose xml file field, select a .xml file containing the exported data. A list containing all the registered folders with sources will be displayed. If the source paths do not exist on the machine being imported to, then the process will not be able to proceed. If required, you can modify the registered folder paths by selecting a new path in the corresponding New Source Path column. In the Import in workspace field, select a newly created workspace (.rwp file).
Once you have configured the Export and Import tabs, click OK to start the process of export / import workspace data.
